Spokane Falls Community College – Lodge Building Renovation (Spokane Colleges / CCS)
Located along the Spokane River on the Spokane Falls Community College campus, the historic Lodge is a late-1930s/1938 log-and-timber landmark being comprehensively renovated to become a centralized, on-campus leadership hub for Spokane Colleges. The project modernizes approximately 19,000+ square feet across two levels while preserving the building’s defining lodge character and integrating updated functionality, technology, and building systems.
The renovation consolidates key administrative departments—creating welcoming, easy-to-navigate office and meeting spaces that bring leadership closer to students, faculty, and staff, while reducing reliance on leased off-campus facilities. Design intent emphasizes collaboration, including reimagining prominent gathering spaces (such as the “great hall”) as a shared hub for staff connection.
Scope includes selective demolition and extensive interior/exterior upgrades, with a strong focus on protecting and showcasing existing log and timber elements. Planned improvements include a new HVAC strategy (VRF) selected to reduce impacts to historic structure and accommodate low-ceiling conditions, enhanced electrical distribution and energy monitoring, modern lighting controls, structured telecommunications infrastructure, and updated restrooms with water-efficient fixtures—supporting a high-performance approach with a goal of achieving at least LEED Silver certification. Site work is designed to strengthen the Lodge’s connection to its natural setting and campus context, improving pedestrian/vehicular access while preserving key historic stone features and complementing the landscape with native plantings.
The project is locally funded and is scheduled for occupancy in Fall 2026.
