NAMPA — The owners of a new hotel that’s planned to go in next to the Nampa Civic Center will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at the site on Friday.
Peppertree Hospitality plans to build a new 81-room Best Western Plus Hotel. The four-story hotel is expected to cost about $5 million and will go in the northwestern corner of the Civic Center parking lot.
Crews have already removed asphalt from the parking lot to make way for the new hotel.
Nampa city officials agreed to a land swap to make the 39,000-square-foot property at the Civic Center parking lot available for the hotel. In exchange, the city received a vacant building in downtown Nampa that it planned to use for storage.
“We are very excited about this venture,” Nampa Mayor Bob Henry said in September when the hotel was announced. “I can tell you, for years, there has been discussion about whether we could just get a hotel down there. They can have multi-day events at the Civic Center. That would be a real boon. This hotel isn’t even going to have a restaurant. They plan to utilize the Civic Center as much as possible.”
The groundbreaking ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. in front of the Civic Center at 205 Third St. S. The hotel’s owners, contractor and architect will join city officials for the ceremony.
